|
The
Venetian Castle of Parga:
The castle is on top of the hill overlooking the town. It was initially built in the 11th century by the residents of Parga to protect the town from pirates and Turks and was partly destroyed by such invasions. In the 13th century the castle was rebuilt by Venetians. Parga was occupied in 1452 by Turks who destroyed part of the Castle. It was rebuilt for the fourth time by the Venetians in the 16th century. |
