Vale
of Tempe near Larissa
The
Vale of Tempe is the name of a
gorge between Mount
Olympus to the north and Volos to the south. The valley is 10km long and as narrow as 25 meters with cliffs nearly 500 meters high. Through the gorge flows the Pineios River on its way to the Aegean Sea. The Tempe Pass is a strategic pass in Greece as it is the main route from Larissathrough the mountains to the coast. |
